Take a boat across the largest lagoon of the Sian Ka´an biosphere at sunset. Explore a wide variety of coastal ecosystems, observe local wildlife and witness the spectacle of sunset in one of the most beautiful places of the Caribbean while watching hundreds of bird species return to their roosting spot.

Sian Ka´an, which in Yucatec Mayan language means “place where the sky begins,” is one of the largest natural protected areas in Mexico (1.6 million acres). Its incredible biodiversity is protected by the UNESCO under the program MAB (Man and the Biosphere).

The Sian Ka´an biosphere reserve is located on a partially emerged coastal limestone plain, and as a consequence comprises some of the most diverse aquatic habitats of the area.  This characteristic makes of Sian Ka´an a place of great importance for the nourishment, shelter and reproduction of resident, migratory and transient aquatic birds.

In this afternoon tour, we take a boat to visit a wide variety of ecosystems in search of its feathered residents and migratory population. We make a brief stop at the Boca Paila bridge, where the brackish waters of a lagoon meet the Caribbean Sea.  Here it is possible to observe birds such as Osprey, Gulls, Terns, Sanderlings, Plovers and more.  We continue searching for birds through creeks in the mangroves as we learn about the history, hydrology and many other interesting aspects of this reserve.  To end a fabulous day of exploration, we stop the boat in front of a mangrove island to enjoy the sunset as hundreds of birds such as Roseate Spoonbills, White Ibis, Reddish Egrets, Tricolored, Boat-billed, Great Blue Herons and many more arrive from their feeding grounds to spend the night.

3:30 pm Drive to the visitor´s center of Sian Ka´an for briefing on the biosphere

4:00 pm Boat ride exploring the coastal ecosystems looking for wildlife such as crocodiles, manatees and different species of birds

Continue your boat journey towards a spot on the lagoon to watch the sunset and hundreds of birds returning to their roosting spot

7:00 pm Enjoy local bites before heading home

Please be aware that we will communicate your pick up time via a personalized
email and it will vary from the automatic pick up time sent by the booking
platform as we have to calculate it manually depending on your hotel/airbnb

Drop Off Time:
Please be aware that drop off time vary depending on hotel/villas locations and
the rhythm of each group.

Cancellation Policy:
Each tour should be booked by paying a deposit.

In case of cancellation more than 24 hrs before the pickup, we do
not charge you any cost and will give you back your deposit.

In case of cancellation less than 24 hrs before the pick up or in
case of no show we will charge you 100% of the total amount of your tour.

Please understand that we have to pay all our providers and staff although you do not come.

Payments:
Credit card payments have a fee up to 7% depending on Credit Cards. We
recommend bringing cash.

Our prices are in USD. Please be aware that we work with a monthly based
exchange rate for Payments in Pesos or Euros.
